Our Kitchen

A family kitchen
that grew up.

Tatenda's started in the family home in Avondale ten years ago — a Sunday-lunch table that everyone kept extending. People kept asking when we'd open a restaurant. Eventually we did.

The menu is still the same recipes our mothers fought over: slow-braised oxtail, green-vegetable sadza with peanut butter, sweet potato bread, weekend brunch built around the ingredients we'd cook at home anyway. We do a few things, and we do them properly.
